Ruan Ying has a crush on the top student in her grade.

Someone comes up to Zhou Qingying and mocks her for being so presumptuous: "You, a country bumpkin, like Lin Yichuan? There are enough people who like him to line up outside the school gates. When do you think it'll ever be your turn?"

The diary ends up on Lin Yichuan's desk, and everyone waits for the show to begin.

Just woken up, Lin Yichuan sits at his desk looking lazy. He doesn't open the diary filled with his name. Instead, he roars furiously, "What's all the noise about? Did every one of you get into Tsinghua or Peking University?"

Zhou Qingying hurriedly snatches back her diary, her eyes reddening for once.

Many, many years later, Lin Yichuan finally opens Zhou Qingying's diary and adds a sentence at the end of the final page:
