I, Xichuan Xi, am a very ordinary mage. Really, very ordinary.
At most, I sometimes summon a two-meter-diameter fireball to barbecue something, call up a little typhoon to cool off, or summon a glacier to chill a couple of drinks.
As for why I don't use charcoal, a fan, air conditioning, or a fridge, don't ask. I just have too much time on my hands.
If there really has to be a reason, it's probably that I'm afraid I'll forget the summoning spell...
