[My next novel, "Lost Stars," is on my profile. The blurb is below. Please add it to your collections, friends!]
After graduating from the police academy, Zhang Li passed the joint entrance exam with an excellent score and landed a proud position as a police officer at the local Public Security Bureau. But on her second day at work, she was transferred to Lingcheng.
Zhang Li's heart sank. Lingcheng... She didn't want to go back!
Why?
Because she was afraid of being bitten by a dog.
But there was no getting out of it, so Zhang Li went anyway, telling herself she could just keep her distance from the dogs.
After responding to calls for three days straight, Zhang Li finally understood. He was doing it on purpose.
Looking at the man in front of her, a wound on his face and a defiant smile on his lips, Zhang Li couldn't help cursing him. "Wen Yi, what's wrong with you?"
"Heh, you think this is crazy? You haven't seen what I'm like when I really lose it."
As soon as Wen Yi finished speaking, he bit Zhang Li on the lips. The pain made her shove him away and slap him hard across the face.
Wen Yi looked at her in disbelief. His dog ears seemed to droop. "Zhang Li, you hit me?"
Zhang Li gave a cold laugh and wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth.
"I hit a dog!"
But Zhang Li never expected that Wen Yi would cling to her from then on. The more she tried to avoid him, the more he seemed to haunt her.
It's like a puppy chasing after you when you run away. It thinks you're playing with it!
At last, Zhang Li couldn't take it anymore.
"Boss Wen, CEO Wen, Young Master Wen! Don't you have anything better to do than follow me around all day?"
Wen Yi looked at her in disbelief and shouted, "I told you eight hundred years ago that you're my top priority!"
-
"Keep an eye on me. Don't run away, and don't let me get away."
Don't worry. You won't be able to run away for the rest of your life.
A pampered policewoman and her devoted boyfriend
Fall in love with a sweet little mad-dog boyfriend!
Reader's note: The story has a chase-your-wife-to-the-crematorium arc (okay, to me it's not really that much of a crematorium arc, haha).
This story has a lot of author-created details, so please don't take it too seriously.
As always, both leads have flaws. Nobody's perfect, and they aren't either. If that's not your thing, read with caution~~
Hope you enjoy!
"Lost Stars"
"To someone, you are the center of the universe, like the Small Magellanic Cloud. You shine with the light of the entire universe and help them find their way, even if you may not realize it." - NASA
Before meeting Zheng Xunuo, she struggled through a bleak and endless life.
After meeting Zheng Xunuo, Wen Xingruan was like a traveler wandering through the night who had glimpsed an illusory light.
She saw Zheng Xunuo surrounded by admirers, with everyone around him shining too. He seemed an entire universe away from her, unreachable.
Maybe she could get a little closer to him...
The pen in her hand kept moving across the exam paper.
That was what Wen Xingruan thought.
When the results came out that day, Zheng Xunuo was first and Wen Xingruan was second. Their names were less than two centimeters apart, the closest they had ever been.
Wen Xingruan suddenly heard someone mention her name. She turned around and saw Zheng Xunuo with his back to her, the ends of his hair looking languid in the sunlight.
He chuckled, his tone casual, and said to the person in front of him, "Anyone but her."
*
Wen Xingruan thought back countless times to that winter night. The snow was heavy, and the wind cut into her like a knife.
She was frozen through.
Amid the wind, she faintly heard footsteps. When she looked up, she saw a familiar figure running toward her.
The boy's shoulders weren't broad yet, but they blocked all the wind and snow, leaving her a warm place to shelter.
Afterward, no winter was ever as cold as that one.
And the person from that winter never appeared again.
Time passed. Wen Xingruan never thought she would meet him again.
Neither of them was the person they had once been.
This time, Wen Xingruan deliberately avoided him at every turn, but Zheng Xunuo kept closing in.
After one drunken night, Wen Xingruan boldly lifted Zheng Xunuo's chin and told him, "If you're lonely, go find someone else."
Zheng Xunuo's smile was always roguish, just like before.
He took her hand and kissed it. "But there are so many other people, and none of them are you."

After reading it, I felt it was well written. I'm curious about the mentality of the male protagonist in Chapter 29. Does he feel that he is more responsible for harming Du Cheng, or is the friendship between childhood sweethearts greater than the relationship with the female protagonist... However, the male protagonist was only in his 10s at the time, and someone might die in front of him. No matter how cruel he was, he probably couldn't just leave at that time. I have a friend, her boyfriend and her ex-girlfriend were like this. Her ex-girlfriend was depressed after being bullied by a scumbag, and she thought he was a life-saver. She would call him for comfort from time to time, which caused my friend and her friends to have all kinds of quarrels during that time... In the end, the girl cut her wrists and committed suicide. Her mother finally had to call my friend's boyfriend, and he actually bought a ticket overnight, so he also received my friend's breakup notice, although they reconciled in the end... As the heroine said, any choice made under the circumstances is excusable.
Ah ah ah ah, it's over. Spread flowers.
Ahhhhhhh it will be over so soon
