The Interstellar Research Institute invents the first-generation time-space shuttle. The problem is, they can't conduct further experiments without putting people at risk.
So the Institute's affiliated First Interstellar High-Security Psychiatric Hospital for Women is honored with the task of providing volunteers.
"We respect our patients' lives, so participation is entirely voluntary," the scientist admits. "And as you know, our hospital also hopes these poor girls can find some healing. I think this is a good way to do it."
The first volunteer says, "Huh? You want to know what kind of hospital ours is? Hahahaha, it's a mental asylum, obviously."
And so begins the story of seven patients from a maximum-security asylum who transmigrate to different worlds and somehow, perhaps, get cured.
