Ascending to Heaven

From the moment Cheng Xi was born, the empress's throne was hers for the taking.

But she wanted nothing to do with the "road to glory" that everyone envied.

In front of everyone, she took a lowly prisoner of war and made him her lover, ruining her own prospects. In the end, she became the sharpest blade in the hands of her maternal grandmother, Empress Dowager Cheng.

She tore down the powerful clans, fought the princes, and seized control of the court... Everyone said she was mad.

Yet on this bloodstained path no one believed in, she carved out another road to the heavens with her own hands.
