After the Movie Emperor Broke Off Our Engagement

Su Ying has a secret: Gu Shuyi, a hugely popular young movie star, is her fiancé. They've never been in touch, but she likes him very much. She follows his career through the news and keeps up with his life through social media. Her heart and mind are full of him.

With the wedding approaching, she returns to the country at Gu's mother's invitation to attend his twenty-fifth birthday party. She spends the journey anxiously wondering how she will get along with someone as outstanding as him. But the appointment she traveled so far to keep turns out to be a dream that has already ended.

Her stepmother looks at her with pity. "You think you can still be the spoiled rich young lady who does whatever she wants after leaving the Yu family?"

Her stepsister sneers. "Brother Shuyi and Sister Xinyao grew up together. He won't like you."

Aunt Gu takes her hand and speaks earnestly. "Now that you've left the Yu family with your mother, the marriage arranged by the older generation doesn't have to stand. We're doing this for your sake. You and Shuyi barely know each other, so you shouldn't be bound by a marriage contract."

Su Ying is stunned. The conviction she has upheld for years crumbles in an instant. She asks in a daze, "And he... agrees too?"

"He agrees."

Su Ying deletes everything related to Gu Shuyi and lets out a relieved sigh. "All right. From now on, we're both free to marry whom we choose, and we have nothing to do with each other."

Word has it that a new designer has recently joined the film crew. She has bright eyes, a lovely face, and can paint, embroider, make perfume, and cook delicious food. Everyone adores her. Gu Shuyi has been sleeping poorly lately, and his demanding workload is nearly driving him to a nervous breakdown. His assistant has tried everything and can no longer keep up, so he suggests that Gu visit the designer.

Gu Shuyi heads over, doubtful, and happens to see a tall, handsome young man confessing to the designer. The boy holds a bouquet, starlight gleaming in his eyes as he gazes at her, utterly smitten. "Su Ying, I like you!"

Gu Shuyi: ...
