Synopsis
Yan Xinyue returns from across the ocean to attend a close friend's wedding, only to run into her former love, Cheng Huiyang, after all these years.
Years apart, reunited at last.
Cheng Huiyang wears a suit and tie, immaculate from head to toe, nothing like the reserved student in her memories. Yan Xinyue can't help thinking that time has treated him far too kindly.
When Yan Xinyue walks past Cheng Huiyang without a glance, her arm linked with her male companion's, the friends at the family table look at each other, not daring to say a word. Cheng Huiyang holds his drink in silence, not even looking in their direction.
There is no dramatic scene at the wedding like everyone imagined. They are relieved. So it really is finally over.
But that night, Yan Xinyue finds Cheng Huiyang's car waiting outside the hotel. He says he's headed her way and offers her a ride home.
Looking at the driver, Yan Xinyue suddenly blurts out, "Cheng Huiyang, you're not thinking of getting back together with me, are you?"
Cheng Huiyang keeps both hands on the steering wheel, not even turning his head. After a moment of silence, he says quietly, "You're imagining things."
Yan Xinyue says, "Oh."
Good. If not, everyone's happy.
Seeing Yan Xinyue's face suddenly relax, Cheng Huiyang remains calm as still water, but his heart goes cold, colder still.
Cheng Huiyang's version:
I thought we'd be tangled up with each other for the rest of our lives. Then you left without a word, leaving me all alone.
Fine. Good that you left. Now I don't have to run myself ragged every day and still spend time dealing with all your problems.
But why, when you left so casually, do I worry about you every day? You're all alone overseas. Are you eating well? Sleeping well? Taking good care of yourself?
Is the moon abroad really rounder? Otherwise, why haven't you come back?
At a gathering with friends, everyone gets completely drunk. Drunk, Cheng Huiyang picks up his phone and calls her, slurring, "Will you come back? When are you coming back? Would it be okay if I came to get you?" Cheng Huiyang has always been good at hiding his feelings. His friends are stunned to see him so dejected, and can't help feeling wistful. Who would have thought that Cheng Huiyang, usually so cold and aloof, could have this side to him?
After sobering up, Cheng Huiyang grows even quieter.
Yan Xinyue hears a friend tell her that Cheng Huiyang hasn't been doing well all these years, and that he's been waiting for her.
She smiles, unconcerned.
The first time Yan Xinyue hears these words from a drunk Cheng Huiyang, she silently turns to look out the window, leaving only her profile in view.
If only you'd known this would happen, why didn't you think of that before?
Memories of the old days:
Yan Xinyue goes out to meet her friends. Cheng Huiyang comes to pick her up, then strides off on his own once she's there.
Yan Xinyue shouts after him, "Cheng Huiyang?! Would it kill you to slow down?!"
Cheng Huiyang snaps back, "Would it kill you to go out one less time? Do you even know what kind of people they are? You think of them as friends, but do you know what men are thinking?"
Yet his pace gradually slows as he waits for the person behind him.
Later, after they start holding hands, Yan Xinyue remembers the past and looks at Cheng Huiyang. "You used to walk so fast. Why don't you hurry up now?"
Cheng Huiyang says nothing, only tightening his grip on her hand, wishing the road ahead were longer, long enough to last the rest of their lives.

The beautiful Jiang Tao declares that she will win over the famous model student, the top student in their year, the untouchable Ning Yucheng.
She clings to him and pursues him relentlessly, making no secret of it.
He runs, she chases!
The high-profile rumor becomes more and more popular at Zeqing No. 1 High School.
But Ning Yucheng remains unmoved, until she pushes him to the brink and he grits his teeth and asks, "You're a girl. Don't you have any shame?"
Jiang Tao smiles brightly. "That's right, I have no shame. I like you openly, and I'm pursuing you openly. Why should I be ashamed?"
She leans closer to Ning Yucheng. "Or is it you who's embarrassed?"

Ning Yucheng says, "Fine. Then I'll pursue you. I hope you won't say yes to anyone else before you say yes to me."
At first:
A friend asks him, "I heard someone is pursuing you?"
Ning Yucheng is getting annoyed. Jiang Tao, again. Why can't he escape her no matter where he goes?
Then:
A friend asks Ning Yucheng, "She's so beautiful. You really don't feel anything?"
Ning Yucheng replies offhandedly, "If you want her, take her."
Later:
A friend tells him, "So you really don't want her? If not, I'll make a move. I've got my eye on her lately."
Ning Yucheng says nothing.
On the day his friend plans to send Jiang Tao roses, he calls her while drunk and mumbles, "Jiang Tao, don't say yes to him."
After his friend comes back, he tells Ning Yucheng, "Damn, you're missing out. When I get Jiang Tao, I'll be making a killing. That figure of hers... those legs are worth a year of my life."
He gets more and more excited as he talks, and Ning Yucheng suddenly punches him.
Blood at the corner of his mouth, his friend stares at him in shock. "Ning Yucheng, have you lost your damn mind?"
Ning Yucheng says viciously, "Watch your mouth."
Yes, that's right. He's lost his mind, desperate to run to Jiang Tao this instant and make her change her mind, to stop her from liking anyone else.
He's lost his mind, because even though he knows Jiang Tao only approached him as part of a scheme, he still let himself fall for her.

The male protagonist's mother did evil things without being punished. I don't know why a female protagonist could write this kind of female protagonist, Heart of the Virgin. Did the male protagonist pay anything? Have you ever looked for a female lead? So many years?
