Listening to Fire

Team Captain Ji Cheng of the Ninth Major Crimes Unit transmigrates into himself in another world while pursuing a suspect.

The same face, the same name, but Ji Cheng knows this is a parallel timeline.

His counterpart in this parallel timeline is a high school senior. With no other choice, Ji Cheng has to grit his teeth and go to school.

One day, late for class, Ji Cheng climbs through a window into the arts building and accidentally knocks over a boy painting by the window.

The boy is wearing a white shirt. He looks warm and lovely, like a harmless little fawn, and his paintbrush leaves a plum blossom on Ji Cheng's uniform.

That very day, the little fawn transfers into Ji Cheng's class and becomes the student sitting in front of him.

The little fawn in front of him has such a warm smile. Ji Cheng decides he's going to protect him.

Later, while tracking down the suspect, Ji Cheng and the little fawn fall into the suspect's trap and are taken prisoner.

Ji Cheng: Aren't you scared?

Little Fawn: I am.

As he speaks, the little fawn smiles and stamps the man in black guarding them underfoot.

Ji Cheng: ?

The little fawn's secret is out.

Ji Cheng: Who the hell are you?

Little Fawn: I'm not human. I'm a god.

Ji Cheng: A plague god?

Little Fawn: More or less. I'm the god who exists to warm your heart.

Ji Cheng: Don't... don't come any closer. I think I'm going to throw up.
