The 1970s: The Vile Mother-in-Law's Redemption

Ye Wanjun, a bodyguard who can take on ten people at once, gets transported into a novel about a reborn heroine and becomes the heroine's horrible mother-in-law.

This mother-in-law is lazy, gluttonous, and morally corrupt. She steals chickens, dogs, and even other people's husbands. She loves stirring up trouble and is always making life difficult for her daughter-in-law. In short, there's not a single redeeming quality about her. She's as awful as they come!

She has four children. Three end up behind bars, while only the eldest, who's married, has a thriving life. So she can't stand his wife and makes trouble for her at every turn. In the end, she breaks her son and daughter-in-law's hearts, dies alone in misery, and is left to rot without anyone caring.

Determined not to repeat the same mistakes, Ye Wanjun decides to turn over a new leaf and raise the three children properly, using both carrots and sticks to make them leaders in their fields.

When she meets her future daughter-in-law, Ye Wanjun takes her hand, slips off a silver bracelet, and says, "Guo'er, this is my welcome gift to you. When you marry into our family, I'll treat you just like my own daughter."

Just as life starts getting better and it seems fate is about to be rewritten, the abusive, good-for-nothing man who died years ago comes back to life.

Ye Wanjun smooths her hair and says, "No problem. Just watch me fight fire with fire and train this wife-beater to become a devoted husband who does whatever I say."
