Love Begins with a Breakup

A rumor has long circulated among the upper circles of the capital.

Huo Jinran, the head of the Huo family, was cold-blooded and had no interest in women, yet he had once loved someone with all his heart.

He had doted on his ex-girlfriend beyond measure.

Sending her a whole box of luxury-brand handbags was nothing. When she was unhappy with the actress playing the lead in the TV adaptation of her novel, this powerful man even secretly funded the show and had the actress replaced.

But the story went that she dumped him in the end, on the day they were supposed to get engaged.

Sang Ning, an online novelist who had been on hiatus for two years, reappeared before the public with a new work.

Many of the new novel's plot points were uncannily similar to the rumors circulating in high society: the male lead doted on the heroine with all his heart, only to be dumped by her in the end.

And, by coincidence, it happened on their engagement day, too.

At the new book's signing, a curious reader asked Sang Ning, "I heard you used to date the head of the Huo Group. Was the plot of your new novel based on your own experience?"

Sang Ning's expression did not change. It was as if she had long forgotten what had happened, and she replied calmly, "Sorry, everything in the book is fictional."

"Then did you ever date Huo Jinran?"

At the familiar name, Sang Ning's heart gave a slight tremble. The palm of the hand gripping the microphone grew a little damp with sweat. "I don't know that person."

In a secluded corner of the hall, Huo Jinran stood in the dim light. Resting his long fingers against his chin, he gazed at Sang Ning onstage, his expression as cool and indifferent as ever.

Hearing her final words, he lowered his lashes and gave a cold laugh. You heartless little thing. I doted on you for so long for nothing.

The couple's fans had stuck by them for two years after their breakup.

But Sang Ning's remarks at her new book launch broke their hearts. This couple was definitely over.

It wasn't long, though, before sharp-eyed fans pieced together the clues and accidentally discovered that Huo Jinran was preparing to win Sang Ning back.

And, even more coincidentally, the way Huo Jinran was trying to win her back was practically... exactly the same as the male lead's approach in Sang Ning's new novel!

The fans went wild with joy: Isn't this the perfect story of a domineering CEO chasing his old love? The novel has come to life!
