The Great Demon

The great demon was a divine descendant of the Phoenix Clan, adored in the highest heavens, yet somehow she fell into darkness. She had a nasty temper and was terribly vain, always wanting a lackey who would flatter her. Her handmaiden watched helplessly as she stole a dragon egg. Trembling, she risked her life to say, “My Lord, there’s no way this egg will be able to talk once it hatches. If you’re looking for someone to talk to, you should find someone who can speak.” The great demon laughed and said that if she taught it herself, it would obey. The dragon that hatched was indeed very docile, gentle and fragile, doing whatever she told it to. Unfortunately, people from the Heavenly Realm came looking for it. The world was vast and boundless, and the age-old enmity between the two realms was about to erupt. A hundred years later, the great demon stared blankly as the dragon girl she had raised descended from the highest heavens. She was no longer so wooden or soft, but as cold as ice. The dragon girl challenged her: “Don’t you recognize me?” [Content warnings: Immortals, but no martial heroes; not a cultivation story; pretend parent-and-child relationship; slow burn; the protagonists had little to do with each other in their previous lives; opposing sides early on; not pure fluff.
