I Married the Villainess

The Duke of Weiguo's household is noble, with a fine family tradition. When the Noble Consort sought a husband for her only daughter, the Fifth Princess, she considered her options and, unsurprisingly, took a liking to the Duke of Weiguo's heir, a brilliant young man equally gifted in civil and martial arts.

Before the marriage could be settled, however, the heir went missing on the northern frontier, with no word from him. It seemed all but certain he had met his end.

Even a princess can have trouble finding a husband. She couldn't bring herself to settle for someone beneath her, and there were only so many eligible men from distinguished families. After so much time had passed, when they started looking again, none of the candidates seemed quite right.

After considering the matter from every angle, the Noble Consort finally advised her, "Yaoyao, why don't we still marry you into the Duke of Weiguo's household? The one who's left is a concubine-born son, but he's the duke's only remaining son. The whole household will belong to him one day."

Watching her sisters marry one excellent match after another, with each brother-in-law enjoying a bright future, the Fifth Princess reluctantly agreed.

But just as the imperial edict arranging the marriage was issued, before the heir could even be formally stripped of his title, the supposedly missing heir of the Duke of Weiguo returned in triumph, accompanied by his lifesaving benefactor, the one he loved beyond all else!
