Little Plum Blossom

After graduating from high school, Rong Ling was told that she'd been switched at birth and was actually the Zhen family's daughter.

After they reunited, both sets of parents decided to raise the girls together. Rong Ling felt relieved, but also thought it sounded like a hassle.

The older girl who had been switched with her warned Rong Ling not to go after her fiance, even though he should actually have been Rong Ling's fiance. Rong Ling just smiled and didn't care.

But when she saw this older girl asking about the boy next door, Rong Ling couldn't smile anymore.

She glared at the man before her. "Just try smiling at her!"

Wen Jinyao looked at his childhood friend, who had finally caught on, put an arm around her waist, and leaned down to speak softly by her ear. "Then how about I only smile at you?"

The courtyards of the Wen and Rong families were separated by only an iron fence, thickly entwined with rose vines. When Wen Jinyao was a child, he often read in the courtyard and saw the little girl next door following her mother around and watering flowers, quiet and well-behaved.

One day, the little girl suddenly cut off a red modern rose and handed it to him. Wen Jinyao looked at the rose in her hand, then raised his eyes to her.

The little girl seemed not to know that modern roses were the roses sold in shops, or what it meant to give someone a rose, so he asked, "Why are you giving it to me?"

She smiled and answered, "Mom says red flowers are for someone you like. I like you, Brother Jinyao!"

When she smiled, her eyes were like a clear spring, and the sight flowed into his heart.

A quick recommendation for my friend Sha Zhou Ta Cui's upcoming modern romance, Too Far:

The author has no idea how to recommend books and gives up in one second.

Until one day, Mu Suixi speaks into her ear, and she suddenly turns around and asks, "What did you say?"

That's when he realizes she's deaf in one ear.
