Ranran transmigrated. Unlike others who transmigrated into all kinds of beauties, she became a cat, and not just any cat, but one in an antique painting. Even worse, the painting hung in the study of the tyrannical regent.

Late one quiet night, Ranran shook out her fur and leaped from the painting, landing with one paw in the inkstone on the desk. When she lifted it again, she had left a trail of inky plum blossom paw prints all over the desk.

Feng Yi had recently noticed something strange: every night after midnight, there were noises in his study, and the next morning, trails of ink-covered cat paw prints appeared on his desk.

One night, Feng Yi blew out the candles in his study but didn't leave. Instead, he hid in the darkness. When he saw the little cat leap out of the painting, he was astonished, but not afraid at all.

Seizing the chance, he scooped her into his arms with lightning speed. "Where do you think you're going? How dare you make a mess of my study?"

In an instant, the little cat in his arms transformed into a breathtakingly beautiful young woman, completely naked.

Their eyes met. He gazed with interest into her starry eyes, wide with terror, while beneath his hand was skin as smooth and cool as ice.

After a long moment, he chuckled. "Ha, an illusion? Are you pretending to be the demon in this painting? Then I suppose I'll have to capture a demon for once!"

1. This story is set in a heavily fictionalized world with lots of authorial inventions. I'll do my best to make the logic hold together.

2. The heroine is neither an immortal nor a demon in the main story. She is a human who transmigrated into the cat in a painting, though there is a medium that can trigger transformations between cat and human. Except for dreams and the characters' imaginations, the main story does not involve immortals, demons, or ghosts, so it hasn't been placed in the fantasy category. Please bear that in mind.
