In the first year of the Ruyi era, demons ran rampant, masters of illusion, hiding among humanity. Gu Jiujiu, an ordinary boy from a traveling troupe in Bolai Town, is unexpectedly kidnapped by a mysterious delegation from the South Yue kingdom of Guihai. He has no choice but to travel with them to Chang’an as a student from Guihai, bearing tribute. The glorious Wu Zhou era seems dazzling, but beneath the surface, undercurrents swirl and schemes abound. The demon realm is in turmoil, and strange incidents plague the journey. In the darkness, three mysterious assassination organizations, from the demon realm, the spirit realm, and the frontier, are weaving a vast web that converges on Chang’an.
Everyone is desperately trying to protect something. Perhaps it’s a person, perhaps a city, perhaps the lofty ruler, or perhaps Chang’an’s million innocent inhabitants... If you had the chance to change your fate, would you be willing to embark on a journey and learn to grow?
