He often rode a roaring black motorcycle up to the rooftop of the building across from her home, perched half over the edge, and played guitar and sang. Fu Xia couldn't concentrate on her math problems anymore. She pushed open the window and glared at him. He acted as though he hadn't seen her and kept playing. Fu Xia took a broom up to the rooftop. "You're disturbing the neighborhood. Don't you know that?!" He laughed. "Am I disturbing you, neighbor?" "Who else?" Fu Xia shot back. But he played even louder and sang even louder. Fu Xia stormed over. Suddenly, he jumped down from the steps and landed in front of her. The wind was strong that day, and he was very close. "If I don't disturb the neighborhood, can I make friends with you, neighbor?" 2 After graduating from high school, Fu Xia started dating the boy who played guitar, rode a motorcycle, and had pursued her for three years. Back then, her heart bubbled with sweet, summery fizz, like soda. But one week, the boy suddenly disappeared. She searched for him for a long time, but found no trace of him. Then she saw him on someone else's social media feed. He took another person's hand and bent down to kiss their cheek. She ran all the way to his house. The wind was fierce that day. She pointed at the photo on her phone. "Chen Fan, how do you explain this?" He laughed casually. "Well, I cheated." Fu Xia's last hope was shattered. She lifted her proud chin, refusing to let her humble tears fall. She spoke each word clearly. "Never see you again. Let's pretend we never knew each other." The boy looked at her for a long time, then gave a low laugh. "That would be great." 3 Years later, they met again at someone else's wedding. Fu Xia turned and walked away. The man called her name softly, his hoarse voice scattering in the wind. "Xiaxia, can you give me another chance?" Please give me one last chance, the only one I'll ever have, to be your neighbor, your loyal subject. * A female doctor × a private detective. The male lead did not cheat.
