The One Who Remains Alone

Ni Qing thought the greatest tragedy of her life was the name her parents gave her, which sounded like "You’re treating," but later she realized it was actually falling into the moat. Then, when she discovered she hadn’t died and had transmigrated, she was completely dumbfounded.

She transmigrated into a so-called beastfolk world as a holy maiden and raised a black cat. Later, the cat started talking and turned into a young man.

One day, her cat, her boy, stood before her, blood running down his black clothes. The boy said, "If I hadn’t met you, I’d probably have spent my whole life in darkness.

If I hadn’t fallen in love with you, I’d have lived my whole life burdened by sin.

I would have thought there was nothing wrong with living that way.

But if my life was meant to be spent in the darkness, why did you come?

You suddenly entered my life, but you didn’t come for me?"

Ni Qingke looked at his bloodstained hands and asked, "You don’t really hate the gods. You hate... me, don’t you?"

Otherwise, why would he slaughter all the other beastfolk she protected, just to demand an answer from the gods?

Why, after killing so many beastfolk she cared about, would he still say, "How about I wear white for you from now on?"

Ni Qingke bit her lip. "Get lost. Don’t dirty the white clothes I love most."

But not long ago, she had been the one to say, "Hey, how about you wear white for me?"

This story is not angsty, not angsty, not angsty. That’s important, so I’ll say it three times.

Worried? I’ll say it again: it’s not angsty!

Theme: Once, God said, "Let there be cats." And there were cats.
