Painting Ghosts

There is a Portrait Soul Studio in the Underworld, where ghosts with a fated connection can have their obsessions resolved in exchange for a thread of affection.

All the demons and ghosts of the Underworld know that the studio's owner is a kindhearted beauty. But no one knows that this beauty also takes in "junk"!

One day:

"Boss, tell me, isn't this just a sin?" A certain water ghost sobbed.

The boss nodded, cracked open a melon seed, and said with heartfelt dismay, "Yes, Heaven really is blind."

Right? What a terrible sin, listening to you describe how you butchered your husband alive.

Another day:

"Boss, do you think my wife will find me in the butcher shop?" A certain headless ghost, now in pieces, sobbed.

The boss nodded again, cracked open a melon seed, and said with heartfelt dismay, "She will. You were married, after all. How could she fail to recognize the person who shared her pillow?"

Find you? Even if she found you in a pot of soup, she wouldn't recognize you!

Though she had plenty to complain about, she still had to keep working.

There are endless ways to have fun as a ghost: make trouble, wreak havoc, or just fade into the background. She had set a rule for herself to accept only threads of affection as payment. Without listening to all this junk, she really couldn't make ends meet.

Later, she ascended to the Celestial Realm and became a Peach Blossom Immortal, but even that didn't free her from this misfortune.

One day, she found herself living on the streets again, with no choice but to return to her old tricks of swindling people.

"Six-line divination! Six-line divination! Stop and have a look as you pass by! Take a look!"

He was still as noble as he had been ten thousand years ago, unchanged in the slightest. And yet, he had changed too.

"This time, I'll die with you."
