May You Be Well, Lord Chancellor

Blurb 1: Manqing has a fiance, the second young master of a marquis's household. Everyone says it's a wonderful match and that Manqing is marrying above her station. Manqing's knees are knocking. Afraid of what? She's not afraid. She'll only die, after all. What's there to fear? Manqing says, "Um, can we make a deal? If I'm going to die, could you make it quick? Don't torture me before I die." Fei Zhanzhi smiles, his expression gentle, as clear and bright as a soft breeze and a shining moon, every bit the courteous gentleman. But his words are so sinister that they send a chill down her spine. "Well, that depends on my mood." Fei Zhanzhi says, "I wonder what you'll offer to win this chief minister's favor?"
