When Yuan Hesong first met Zhan Xing, he thought Zhan Xing was his light, and that they would be together for the rest of their lives.
It wasn't until Yuan Hesong met Tang Shaoyuan, the person his beloved Xing-ge had always been in love with, both in the past and now, that he realized Zhan Xing's indifference and composure were reserved for everyone except Tang Shaoyuan.
He thought he was like the substitute male lead in a cliched romance novel, filling the gap while the protagonist was away. Once the protagonist showed up, of course it would be his turn to leave.
Was he willing to accept that? Surely not!
The bottom is five years older than the top.
A short story, probably not very long. There are two endings: one where Yuan Hesong and Zhan Xing get a happy ending, and one where the bottom changes and he and Zhan Xing get a bad ending.
In the happy ending, the bottom had a boyfriend before and they'd done everything a couple would do. In the bad ending, the top has also done everything a couple would do with the bottom, Zhan Xing. If that bothers you, don't read.
I haven't gotten to the most angsty parts yet, so I don't know how painful it'll be.
