That day, her cousin Tang Xiaoxiao said she would take her to look around the nearby Shicuo Church. She also said Baojia had arrived at just the right time, since December was the best season to see the ginkgo trees. That was the day Ni Baojia met Zhou Wentang. At the time, she didn't know his name. He bought her a cup of hand-ground coffee. Mustering up her courage, Ni Baojia asked, "Are you here for the service?" Zhou Wentang shook his head. "No, I'm just accompanying an elder in my family for a visit." "Then do you believe in this?" Zhou Wentang seemed intrigued by her question. He smiled at her and tossed it back to her. "Do you think I do?" Ni Baojia shook her head and said he didn't look like he did. Then she pointed at the glimpse of a red cord visible inside his collar and asked, rather abruptly, "Are you wearing a jade Buddha around your neck?" Zhou Wentang didn't seem offended. He looked her over with a knowing expression, then curled his lips into a smile. "Why are you so curious?" Ni Baojia pressed her lips together, suddenly feeling her face grow hot. Zhou Wentang seemed to notice her awkwardness. He chuckled softly. "If we get the chance to meet again, I'll tell you." 2 Later, Zhou Wentang came to see her and proposed. Ni Baojia was silent for a moment, then said, "I want a cigarette." Zhou Wentang offered her one, but Baojia shook her head. "Let's go buy some Taehwa Cats. If we find them, I'll say yes." He drove around for most of the night in the rain, covering half the city before he finally found a pack of Taehwa Cats. Baojia held the pack and stared at him intently. "I'm so young, and I'm already going to marry you. You'd better not sneak around behind my back and find someone else." With a cigarette between his lips, Zhou Wentang narrowed his eyes. After driving all night, his fair face showed signs of fatigue, but his voice was gentle. "Don't worry. I'm not that kind of scumbag." Nine-year age gap, lovers' romance, classic old-school tropes. Happy ending. Theme: A beautiful life
