My Character Fell Apart After I Took My Archenemy as My Master

Shen Wu is a refined and gentle man, benevolent and forgiving, steady and uncompetitive. He's held second place on the Sword Immortal rankings for years and is as close as a brother to the top-ranked Yu Kegui. But only Shen Wu knows that all those traits are a false image he puts on to compete with Yu Kegui. Only his second-place ranking is real. After losing to Yu Kegui yet again, he fumes in private. If he can't beat Yu Kegui, he might as well drop dead on the spot. And then he does just that. When he opens his eyes again, he's been reborn as one of Yu Kegui's disciples. During a lecture, Yu Kegui uses Shen Wu as an example, praising Master Shen for his refinement, kindness, composure, and gentlemanly character. He says it's admirable that such a master has consistently ranked second, proof of his great skill. Shen Wu: ...Did you seriously have to bring up second place? Shen Wu figures that since he's got a secret identity, he might as well drop the act. He corrects an error in the lecture. Yu Kegui says, "Exactly right. Then you'll help me revise the sword manual." He mocks Yu Kegui for getting lost while leading a group on a trip. Yu Kegui says, "It's dangerous out here. You'll ride my sword with me while we find the way." Shen Wu tries countless times but can't shake Yu Kegui's image. Instead, he starts to find Yu Kegui's attitude toward him strangely kind. Shen Wu can only fake his death. But he never expects Yu Kegui to face the enemy with blood-red eyes and sword in hand, his calm, aloof expression crumbling as he cries out, "Shen Wu hasn't reached the summit yet. He can't die!" Shen Wu, whose fake death succeeds: ...You're going mad, and you still have to bring up second place! Shen Wu rushes in with his sword to save the day, his gentle image utterly shattered. "Immortal Lord, I'm not dead. You made me so mad I came back to life." Later: Yu Kegui gazes at him lovingly. "You've always been the top Sword Immortal in my heart, Master Shen. Please don't scare me like that again, all right?" Shen Wu: ...You can keep first place! "If I take first place, I can't hold you. If I give it up, I can't protect you." "What are you even saying?
