The Shadow Guard’s Wrong Way to Atone [Reborn]

The Shadow Guard Ying Shu was diligent and willing to sacrifice himself. Yet at the end of his career, it was his lord who took a blade for him. He fought to his last breath in the prince's residence, surrounded by heavily armed troops. When he woke again, he had returned to the Shadow Guard Pavilion in the prince's residence, ten years in the past. Now, whenever he looked at someone, he could see a bar above their head showing how they felt. He thought this power was completely useless, until he saw Yan Yunlou alive again. In a moment of excitement, he knocked over a bowl of medicine, spilling the black liquid all over the prince's pristine white robes. ...As he wiped it off, he was horrified to discover that the prince, glaring at him expressionlessly, was in an excellent mood. * Feeling he had failed his lord in his previous life, Ying Shu decided to indulge Yan Yunlou's unusual preference and keep the prince happy every day. They went out to stroll in the garden. On his own initiative, Ying Shu brought only one umbrella. Yan Yunlou put an arm around his shoulders and squeezed under it with him as they walked in the rain. "Careless work. What use are you to me?" Mood: 100. When Ying Shu was injured and running a fever, he deliberately clung to the prince and wouldn't let go. Yan Yunlou took off his clothes to wipe away the blood and said impatiently, "I'll bandage you just this once. Don't let it happen again." Mood: 1,000. They traveled far away to an unfamiliar place. Ying Shu smashed the soft bed in an empty house, then lay with the prince on a hard wooden couch. Yan Yunlou shared his outer robe with him, then turned away to hide his reddening face. "...You made me catch a chill. I'll settle this with you when we get back." Mood: 10,000. * Ying Shu thought their days could go on like that for a long time, until Yan Yunlou locked him in a room and smiled as if melting ice and snow. "How are you planning to tease me today?" Ying Shu: ...??? No, that's not how this preference is supposed to work! Yan Yunlou never wanted his pure-hearted, sharp-witted Shadow Guard to risk his life. He promised him a peaceful life, far from all the noise and strife. He had failed to do so in his previous life, but this time he could finally say to Ying Shu, "A Shadow Guard must fulfill his duties, but I only wish to keep you safe and at peace." 1v1, happy ending, both reborn, sweet romance.
