Sleeping Fish

Xuan Xi is the youngest elder in the Shan Hai Realm, an immortal lord of extraordinary talent, the likes of whom are rarely seen even once in tens of thousands of years.

His immortal bearing is flawless, and he is aloof and solitary. He upholds the laws and order of the Immortal Realm with an iron hand, and his eyes are untouched by worldly desires. He seems like the most abstinent and loveless person there is.

The only thing he has ever done to defy convention is keep a stunning mermaid in his immortal residence, dote on her every night, and take pleasure with her. He has also placed layer upon layer of immortal wards on her, forbidding other men from glimpsing her face and forbidding her from looking at any man but him.

This mermaid is from the Mei Yu clan, and she is Xuan Xi's spoils of war.

Back then, Xuan Xi led the divine army in a siege of the Mei Yu palace. Before everyone's eyes, he carefully swept the slender, delicate little mermaid into his arms. His gaze was tender and full of affection as he bent down to kiss her forehead and gathered up her long hair, which nearly reached the ground.

From that day on, all the gods of the Shan Hai Realm watched the lofty Elder Xuan Xi become utterly infatuated with the mermaid, lose himself to her, and go mad for her.

The heroine's story:

Xing Wei is breathtakingly beautiful, beautiful enough to bewitch hearts and slay gods.

She was imprisoned as a child in a dark underwater cell, where she was trained to become a blade. Using her beauty to seduce one seemingly dignified and stately scoundrel from the divine clan after another, she carried out her task.

The Mei Yu king once promised that if she killed a hundred gods for him, he would set her free.

And Xuan Xi was the hundredth.

At his side, she carefully played the role the world expected of a Mei Yu woman: innocent, obedient, submissive, never refusing him, and attentive to his every need. All so that one day she could take his life.

But only in the end did she discover that, though she had once navigated the world of romance with no equal, she was destined to lose to Xuan Xi.

Everyone says she is his nemesis, but no one knows that he is the one she cannot escape.

Reading guide: 1. Both leads are sexually inexperienced.

2. The heroine is a femme fatale, beautiful and ruthless. Early on, she toys with the hero's feelings. When he finds out, he takes a harsh revenge on her.
