[Merfolk top x merman bottom]

[Blurb]

Deng Xi lives on a planet with nothing but ocean and no land.

He is the only mermaid on the entire planet.

Hugging his big tail, Deng Xi counts the days on his little fingers. The lonely little mermaid grows up day by day.

One day, he discovers another "mermaid"!

The other one is injured and bleeding nonstop, with a pale, weak face. He looks so, so pitiful!

Deng Xi decides he must take good care of this hard-to-find member of his kind.

But the other one seems to be a little mute and never talks to him.

Deng Xi painstakingly tends to the "little mute's" wounds, bit by bit. Once they heal, he is heartbroken to find that the little mute has disappeared.

The other one has left him, and Deng Xi is alone again.

A long, long time later, outsiders invade the planet and capture the mermaid. Space pirates broadcast the auction of this one-of-a-kind mermaid in the entire universe.

In a cramped tank, a chain is locked around the mermaid's neck as he curls up pitifully in a corner.

The various factions are in an uproar. Who will win the bid for this breathtaking new species? Just as the astronomical deal is about to close, the starship's door is blasted open, and a man with a gaze as cold as a blade storms in, carrying guns and cannons.

The Empire's Marshal, feared by all, captures every space pirate and takes the little mermaid home as his spoils of war.

The man gently teaches the little mermaid everything about the interstellar age, step by step.

The whole universe is left dumbfounded when the Marshal's expression softens.

On the first day Deng Xi is brought home, he discovers that the Marshal also has a big tail. Delighted, he flutters over and hugs him. "Little mute!"

Deng Xi is overjoyed to have found one of his kind again. He doesn't notice the man's faintly strange expression.

Si Jisheng holds Deng Xi's hand as they swim slowly through the pool. In his heart, he says: Actually, I'm not one of your kind.

I'm not a mermaid. I'm a merfolk.

Eastern merfolk are powerful, with bodies full of deadly weapons.

Western mermaids are weak and helpless, beautiful but useless.

"It's all right."

"It doesn't matter what you become."

I'll still hold you tightly in my arms.
