Kiss Me Through the Spring Fog

I closed the comment sections on the books I wrote 22 years ago because I was embarrassed by how badly written they were. But when I reread this one, I unexpectedly found myself liking it. The leads are not each other's first love. If you've happened to click on this, I hope you like it too.

The first time they met, Xu Yan walked in on Chen Jin breaking up with someone.

The girl clutched his sleeve and wept bitterly. He stood by the door with a cigarette in his hand, offering her a tissue. "Feeling better? Once you've finished crying, stop liking me."

From then on, Xu Yan knew that Chen Jin was an endless abyss.

Yet she stood at its edge, unable to find her way back.

Until one day, Chen Jin said, "Xu Yan? She's my friend's little sister. Just a kid."

Years later, Xu Yan crouched outside Chen Jin's home, a complete mess.

Chen Jin brought her inside and made her a cup of warm tea.

"What is it this time, got your heart broken again?"

Xu Yan answered in a muffled voice, "I didn't get dumped. I got rejected after pursuing someone for three days."

Chen Jin chuckled. "You've gotten worse. You managed to chase me for three months."

Xu Yan glared at him. "That's because you were good-looking!"

"Then why did you stop chasing me? Am I not good-looking anymore?"

He leaned down, his eyes full of laughter. "How about I chase you this time?"

-

"Before the rainy season arrives, let me kiss you once through the spring mist."

"He was like a desert, and she swept through like a wildfire. And so, in the world's most remote corner, a rose garden bloomed."
