Wen Shiyu was just about to argue when the boy in front of her suddenly put on a pitiful expression. "You said you'd take responsibility for me."
Even much later, Wen Shiyu still remembered that evening study session when the classroom lost power.
Cheers rose and fell throughout the building, loud enough to shake the sky. The restless energy of youth burst into full bloom.
But because of her night blindness, she couldn't see anything and didn't dare move from her seat.
Someone gently took her hand in the darkness, making her feel safe.
"Don't be scared. I'm here."
