The story is complete and ready to binge. My upcoming novel, Jinling's Little Delights, is desperately seeking favorites. The blurb is below Bianjing's Little Chef.
Sliced fresh crucian carp with silver threads, fragrant watercress soup from a green mountain stream.
Sheep cooked with salt and fermented soybeans, crab steamed with fragrant oranges.
As a highly paid chef in Bianjing, Xue Ying lives quite comfortably, until she takes a job with Hanlin Academician Li Wei.
Li Wei: Miss Xue fell on hard times and took up this lowly trade. She's got a bad temper, too. I wonder who'll be blind enough to marry her.
Xue Ying: I've never met anyone so conceited and picky! I can support myself just fine, and I have delicious food for company. I'd have to be crazy to get married and let someone restrict me.
Later, Xue Ying has earned enough money and had more than enough of Li Wei, so she finally kicks him out.
Li Wei starts showing up at Ziyun Tower all the time. Miss Xue, a bowl of your new-style egg soup, please.
Xue Ying: Sold out. Please leave.
Li Wei: Then I'll have some hand-washed crab, with a glass of Shoumei wine.
Xue Ying: We didn't get any in today. Move along.
A woman by the wine counter, moonlike in beauty, her pale wrists gleaming like frost-covered snow. Li Wei suddenly blushes. I have all the ingredients at home. Why don't you come back with me and cook?
Reader's guide: (Please read the blurb before starting.)
1. A food-focused story, with a moderate amount of romance and plenty of authentic cuisine from the Song dynasties. Please don't tell me if you drop it. If it's not for you, just click the X.
2. A semi-fictional Song dynasty setting. Please don't nitpick the historical details. A screenshot has been saved as of March 26, 2020, to guard against plagiarism claims.
Jinling's Little Delights
[Childhood Friends Reunited After a Breakup]
The soup with cured ham is delicious, and the osmanthus-roasted duck is fragrant.
The bass is plump, the crabs ready to be caught, the wheat ripe and the cakes worth a taste.
Shen Qiongying, the daughter of a salt merchant, has sampled all kinds of delicious food since childhood. She and Gu Xiyan grew up together as childhood friends, and she knew him well from a young age. She once thought she would naturally marry and spend her life in wealth and comfort. But a sudden upheaval changed everything.
When they meet again, Shen Qiongying is the owner of Jinling's Zuixian Tower, while Gu Xiyan has come first in the palace examination and entered government service. The past is like smoke, and everything has changed.
Gu Xiyan reminds himself again and again: Our lives have nothing to do with each other anymore!
Onlookers: But Palace Examination Laureate Gu visits Zuixian Tower pretty often.
Gu Xiyan, usually so calm and self-possessed, blushes. I only go there for official entertaining.
Shen Qiongying reminds herself again and again: Our lives have nothing to do with each other anymore!
But watching Gu Xiyan exchange cups and pleasantries with his guests in her own restaurant, graceful as a jade mountain and radiant enough to light up the room, she realizes the once shy boy has grown into a man.
Shen Qiongying's heart pounds. She hastily looks away. Handsome men are dangerous.
Only after seeing the world does she realize that someone has been waiting for her all along. Take his hand, and return to those bright, beautiful days of youth.
Serving suggestions:
1. Food and light mystery, with plenty of delicacies from the Ming and Qing dynasties. Fictional setting, so please don't nitpick the history.
2. The entire novel is already written. No writing advice, please.
Theme: Promoting ancient food culture, starting a business independently, and living an inspiring life
I came here for the delicious food, but I didn't expect to be fascinated by the crime scene, hahaha
Good guy, after opening this article, I finished eating the fried chicken wings and ate half a watermelon. Now I can't sleep anymore. Wait for the pre-order opening!
I felt hungry just looking at it, so I couldn't help but order a pickled fish.
Oh Huo originally planned to just watch it until the end, but he couldn't help himself and ordered it all.
I feel so hungry \(*T▽T*)/
I hope Jinling snacks will be opened soon.
Kudos to the author. I have read Detective Dee's Legend written by a Dutchman before. It is a very old book. The suspense is very much in the style of old-school detective work, which is particularly to my liking. I hope that the author will write a book about solving crimes.
At first glance, you can tell that the author is quite knowledgeable about food and his writing style is very fluent.
My zombie Weibo: Dark Jam Jam. I will share my favorite food from time to time recently.
