There's a nursery rhyme on Fish-Man Island that says disobedient children will be possessed by sea beasts at night, and their souls will fall into an endless hell.
It's not some baseless fairy tale, nor a story adults made up to scare children.
It's the truth.
There really is a gigantic monster in the deep sea, its body made of bones, its white skeleton held together by lingering resentment.
That monster is me. I am “Fleika.”
To be precise, I don't know what I am. By the time I became aware of myself, I was already the last of my kind.
The name “Fleika” was etched deep in my memories. I probably gave it to myself.
I used to go by “Nightmare,” but I have another nickname I like better.
It's a name given to me by Teacher Zephyr, and the name of a race from history, recorded in books.
That nickname is romantic: “Sea Burial.”

This is essentially a wish-fulfillment romance, with a protagonist who charms multiple characters.
