The Stepmother Is Actually a Tough Woman

After the Shen family fell into ruin, fourteen-year-old Shen Yan was sold by her aunt to the countryside, to serve as a good-luck bride for the gravely injured Ye Da.

Ye Da had four children to support and a younger brother whose education he had to pay for. He worked several jobs and, exhausted, was injured by falling rocks at a quarry.

Half a month after Shen Yan married into the family, Ye Da passed away. The Ye family matriarch clung to Shen Yan, forcing her to take Ye Da's place, earn money to support the children, and pay for her brother-in-law's education.

After years of hard study, Ye Che finally passed the imperial exams. He thought he could repay Shen Yan for supporting him and secure a bright future for his nieces and nephews.

But when he returned home to visit his family, he was greeted by a devastating shock: his selfish mother had sold Shen Yan and all the children.

His own father knocked him unconscious with a club and buried him on the back hill.

His good-for-nothing older brother, Ye Hong, took his place and went off to a glorious career.

Ye Che could not accept this. When he opened his eyes, he discovered that he had gone back ten years.
