Reborn: The Twilight Years

He Nian had a baby face. Qi Wanbai always said, “That’s a good thing. You won’t look old.”

And He Nian really never did look old. She never got the chance to grow old; she remained forever twenty.

Only later did Qi Wanbai learn that they were merely supporting characters in someone else’s story.

Life and death had long been written into someone else’s script.

Qi Wanbai lived on alone.

When she was sixty, she was about to die. Qi Wanbai touched her graying hair.

He Nian was still beautiful, while she had grown old. If they met again, would He Nian still recognize her?

And then...

Qi Wanbai heard He Nian’s voice.

It was the young He Nian.

Qi Wanbai thought, How wonderful.
