The Qing-Dynasty Palace Maidens Compete for Their Posts

Blurb: Su Mian worked herself to death at a 996 job, only to be reborn as the Fourth Master's newest concubine. Before she even got to meet the man himself, she had already taken a trip to the gates of hell. How could she not fight for her place? The Fourth Master returned from official business, and all the women in his household came to pay their respects. At his first glimpse of Su Mian, he couldn't help frowning. With her ample bosom and seductive looks, she was far too immodest. Despite his dislike, he still went to her room. Su Mian welcomed him inside, clenching her palm tightly. Her body went limp, and she fell softly into his arms. Her limpid eyes brimmed with tears, and she called out with a slight tremble, "My lord." That single word, full of tender longing, sent the Fourth Master's temper flaring. His throat bobbed, and he pinned her beneath him. Once he had laid a hand on her, he could never bear to let her go again... Since entering the household, Su Mian has firmly stuck to her life philosophy: good food, good drink, good fun, and a good show! Virtue and decorum are the principal wife's responsibilities; providing for the family is the men's duty. As a mere concubine, all she needs is a decent place in the household, to stay true to herself, and to enjoy eating, drinking, and having fun. Reader's guide / content notes: 1. She is not the only one favored; the harem is not just for show. 2. This is not real history. The timeline and characters have been changed, among other things. History buffs, be sure to steer clear.
