End-of-Life Care

Hu Juan is a woman with schizophrenia.

Her schizophrenia follows a precise schedule: it kicks in at seven every evening.

At exactly seven, she first splits into Kang Hui and Hai Xia, a man and a woman who host the national evening news, covering politics, economics, science and technology, society, the military, foreign affairs, culture, sports, agriculture, transportation, and more. The news is always changing, and the reporting style is both serious and lively.

When the evening news ends, she splits again, transforming into the host of the weather forecast to report the week's weather. This too follows a precise schedule: on Monday she becomes Yang Dan, on Tuesday Xia Wen, and so on. Her impressions of the different hosts are so uncanny, it's hard to tell them apart from the real thing.

Most astonishing of all, after the weather forecast ends, she goes on to host Focus Interview. She splits and splits until she has played every role: the host, the field reporter, and the dozens of different people featured in each episode.
