Rumor Has It I Won Over the Great Demon King [Full-Dive VR]

Xiao Zhi has been obsessed with gaming lately. His hobbies are robbing bosses and exchanging gifts and going on walks with the gentle, shy, breathtakingly handsome young man who lives in the Dark Forest. Life is wonderful. Then he wakes up inside the game, only to find that it’s no longer the version he remembers. Apparently, the cold, ruthless, gloomy Lord of the Dark Forest once had a lover who cheated him out of his money and his virtue, then vanished without a trace, leaving him waiting for hundreds of years. The wanted poster is still active to this day. Xiao Zhi looks at the gold-glowing, long-discontinued items in his inventory... Wait, could that be me? To save his own skin, he has no choice but to take the path of self-reliance, beating up bosses and crushing players underfoot, becoming the creator of countless legends across the continent. In the midst of chaos, a stranded crown prince unexpectedly turns the tables. At the most prestigious auction, a legendary treasure stuns the crowd. A lost ancient city, missing for a thousand years, reappears in the world. Xiao Zhi: That’s right. I did all of that. Then he accidentally becomes one of the top candidates to lead the campaign against the Lord of the Dark Forest. Emperor: Hero, the future of humanity rests on your shoulders! Pope: Destroy evil in the name of the light! Players: A top-tier big shot is joining this battle. We’re all set. Xiao Zhi: Wait, everyone... Lord of the Dark Forest: You can have my life whenever you want. Just let me keep my body by your side. Xiao Zhi: What happened over these past few hundred years? Give me back my gentle, shy young man! [Updates at 9 p.m. Any other time is for revisions. If there’s no update at nine, it may be under review, or... I’ve crashed and burned.] [My completed novel, I Sweep Through Escape Games by Being Poor, is in my author column. Mwah~] P.S.: 1. One-on-one romance, happy ending, plot-focused. 2. A nonsensical, nontraditional full-immersion online game. Final say belongs to the eighth can of food my cat opens. New novel: The Mad Novelist Xiao Qing is sent into a strange game by his orange and his refrigerator working together: A wanted criminal’s organs abandon his body and run away; A dung beetle has to win the presidential election; Countless tongues reach through Grandma’s ceiling: "You smell so delicious, precious grandchild..." There’s also a host who loves making mischief, Rules that are completely unhinged, Viewers who always vote for the most absurd options, And teammates who’d rather be a dog, a corpse, or a trash can than a person. · A sickly madman who calls himself a novelist enters the game. He courts death everywhere in search of inspiration, discusses the plot with plants, and signs autographs in midair. The players take it in stride: Who in this messed-up game isn’t a little crazy? One day, the gaming news headline reads: Exclusive scoop! Novelist Xiao Qing has become the creature bosses hate most! Victim A: He burst out of my speech and wrote an ad on my face! Victim B: He wrote eight thousand words of mockery inside my head, and it plays on loop every day! Victim C: He swapped my character profile with my dog’s, then stepped on my food bowl! Woof! The skeptical players: No, seriously, why does he get to do that?! I’m pretty crazy too! The more farsighted players: "Big shot, take me along! I’ve got fast-acting heart medication!" "Big shot, look at me! I’ve got adrenaline!!" "Forget those common medicines, big shot. Look, I’ve got olanzapine!" · Couple skit: Back then: Young Xiao Qing: (aggrieved) (confused) (I’m not crying) Wen Yi’an: (hands him a toy) (offers a solution) (pats his head) Now: That thing is watching him again. Its cold gaze peeks out from droplets on mirrors, reflections in his teammates’ irises, and the hair of strangers passing by. Greedy, lingering, icy, coiling around him like a snake that won’t let go. Xiao Qing should be trembling. Instead, desire wells up inside him: He wants to taste the other person’s lips, skin, flesh, soul... Until they cease to be separate individuals, until there is no distinction between them. Isn’t so-called "love" just a game of trying to devour each other? Theme: The future is unpredictable and beyond our control, but we can live in the present.
