Leaves on the Other Shore

The Buddha says: The realm where there is birth and death is called this shore. The realm beyond birth and death is called the other shore. It is the other shore of nirvana. The Buddha speaks of the other shore: No birth, no death. No suffering, no sorrow. No desire, no longing. It is a paradise where all pain and grief are forgotten. Manzhu gazed up at the sky in a daze, quietly revealing half a lonely face. I crept up behind him and slowly reached out, stroking his face from far away. “Man.” I don't know when Yan Wang had come to his side and wrapped his arms around him from behind. I withdrew my hand with a tremble, closed my eyes, and ran away. I'm a coward, so I'll never be able to get close to him. But Yan Wang is different. He doesn't care about anything and has tremendous power, so he can stay by his side without any hesitation. Whenever Manzhu isn't guiding souls, he sits alone on the Three Lives Stone. At those times, brilliant red flowers bloom on the other shore, accompanying souls on their journey to reincarnation. When he begins guiding souls, I sit where he sat, feeling the warmth he left behind. The scarlet flowers wither in an instant, and lush green leaves sprout on the other shore. The flowers of the other shore bloom for a thousand years and fall for a thousand years. Their flowers and leaves never meet. Love is not bound by cause and effect; fate is written in life and death.
