Endless Summer

Liang Luoyi's thirtieth birthday present was a terminal illness diagnosis and his lover's mistress showing up at his door to force him out.

With his career, love life, and health all failing, Liang Luoyi, who had spent thirty years doing everything by the book, broke up with his boyfriend of seven years, with whom he was considered a model couple in their circle. He quit his enviable job at a state-owned enterprise, dusted off his camera and film rolls, neglected for years, and bought a ticket to Faro.

At the edge of Eurasia, the setting sun turned the Atlantic amber. There, Liang Luoyi met a young mixed-race man.

The man stood beneath the sunset with a surfboard in his arms, his shirt hanging loosely around his waist, his deep-set eyes as dark as the Mediterranean at night. When he lowered his head to borrow a light, Liang Luoyi caught sight of half a silver anchor pendant swaying against his collarbone in the sunset.

Lu Mingke thought of himself as a migratory bird, destined never to stop at the horizon.

Until that summer, when he met a Chinese man at the edge of the Atlantic, handsome and refined, with gentle features and a hint of melancholy in his eyes.

The wind kept blowing, and for the first time, he wanted to stay for the winter.
