Blurb:
Xie Yu transmigrated into the body of the Regent of Xiao. The title sounded impressive. He should have held power over the court and controlled the emperor to command the nobles. Unfortunately, his own second-in-command wanted to take his place, and as soon as he arrived, they staged a rebellion and tried to assassinate him.
When the Regent went to the palace to meet the young emperor, he discovered the emperor had it even worse. The boy was so thin he looked like a little chick, and the palace maids and eunuchs bullied him. They were forcing him to choose consorts and sleep with them, waiting for one of the women to bear an imperial child so the Empress Dowager could "get rid of the father and keep the child"...
Xie Yu: "..." He's even worse off than me!
The little chick of an emperor looked at him pitifully.
Xie Yu had planned to fake his death and spend his days in some town south of the Yangtze, living a carefree life. But in the end, he couldn't bring himself to leave the boy...
This is a sweet and satisfying story about a beautiful, pitiful young emperor oppressed by the Empress Dowager and a transmigrated male lead who joins him in taking down the Empress Dowager and her treacherous ministers, expanding the empire, unifying the realm, governing the country, and building it up. If it's not sweet and satisfying, you don't pay.
The beautiful young emperor isn't the Empress Dowager's biological son. He has a mysterious background and a special constitution that allows him to bear children.
The Regent is a frail male lead who coughs up blood every day and seems on the verge of death, but somehow keeps hanging on. He's incredibly skilled in martial arts, but every time he uses his power, he coughs up more blood. That's why the late emperor gave him the position of Regent: everyone thinks he won't live more than three years, so he's no threat.
And so...
The most powerful person in the country looks as pale as paper every day, coughs like he has tuberculosis, and leaves blood on his handkerchief. Everyone is worried the Regent will die tomorrow...
But one year, two years... ten years go by.
!!!!
Why is the Regent still alive?
