Chasing Stars

Pei Huanzhou, a music industry legend of mixed Chinese and British heritage, had features that combined Eastern mystery with Western definition. He took the world by storm the moment he debuted.

He was a fashion icon, a miracle of the entertainment industry, and an unreachable god in the hearts of countless people.

And Shi Chan had loved him for ten years.

Three years of middle school, three years of high school, and four years of university.

As soon as she graduated, Shi Chan turned down a high-paying job with an annual salary of a million and charged headlong into the entertainment industry,

chasing the distant star in her heart.

Everyone in the industry knew that Pei Huanzhou had a hard-nosed assistant with ruthless methods.

Whether they were sasaengs, solo stans, C-list starlets looking for clout, or scalpers, they all ran from her like mice from a cat.

His fans all knew that as long as Assistant Shi was there, no scandal could ever stick to their idol.

Until

A famous foreign paparazzo revealed that international superstar Leo had spent the night at Brazilian model Livia's seaside villa and hadn't left all night.

Intimate photos and suggestive captions sent the internet into an uproar, while Weibo ground to a halt back home.

When the news hit the top of the trending list, Shi Chan, who hadn't slept all night, handed in her resignation.

For the first time, her usually unreadable face showed a fragility that shook everyone who saw it.
