Top bodyguard Liao Cen is forced to take a job because of a bet: protecting rising idol Shen Yanlu. Shen Yanlu looks pure and sweet, but is actually spoiled and domineering, one of the most difficult actresses in the industry.

A contract sets the term at six months. They agree to stay out of each other's way, and when it ends, go their separate ways.

Who knew that before the contract was up, Shen Yanlu would flirt with Liao Cen again and again? The man keeps turning her down, then eventually ends the contract early.

Just when Shen Yanlu thinks they will never cross paths again, Liao Cen appears by her side under a different identity. This time, he drops his chaste, untouchable act and quietly takes over her world.

One day, Shen Yanlu finally loses patience and grabs Liao Cen by the tie. "Mr. Liao, didn't we agree we'd go our separate ways when the contract ended? What, are you regretting it now?"

Liao Cen: "Yes. I regret it."

1. Characters: Beautiful, shrewd landlady x refined undercover scoundrel

1: Qin Yunying, two years older, keeps Han Xing company after he is taken in, helping him grow from a shy bean sprout into a sunny young man.

Just when everyone thinks the childhood sweethearts will end up together, Han Xing disappears.

When they meet again, Han Xing is surrounded by attendants. He is no longer her little tagalong, nor the boy who used to call her "Sis" when he wanted his way.

When someone asks Han Xing what his relationship with Qin Yunying is, he looks her up and down, then smiles meaningfully. "Back then, we were mismatched, and love went unanswered. Now, we have a night of pleasure, each getting what we want."

Others fear and avoid him. Only Qin Yunying dares to argue with him.

But he keeps changing into exactly the sort of person she hates, and no matter how hard she tugs, he won't turn back.

"Han Xing, are money and power really that important to you?" Qin Yunying's red lips curl, but there is no smile in her eyes.

Han Xing sits by the window, his handsome eyes dark and unfathomable.

"Of course. What else do you think I'm doing it for?"

"Don't tell me it's for you?"

2:

Later, Qin Yunying, sometimes as lazy as a cat and sometimes as fierce as a tiger, uses her looks to get her way and repeatedly chases Han Xing out with a broom.

Until he lowers his head and calls her "Sis" over and over, until she finally cools down.

Some things, and some people, are destined to fall into the abyss before they can drive away the darkness.
