Take part in a talent competition.

The little sea otter clutches his crumpled application. "But... I need to find my mom."

The great immortal, too busy dealing with the sudden surge in newly born spirits, casually brushes him off. "You'll find her if you go."

#Interview video released during the competition#

The sea otter is asked why he joined the competition.

The adorable sea otter rubs his face. "Because I want to find my mom. They said if I stand in the highest place, she'll be able to see me."

After fans and passersby watching the interview imagine all sorts of heartbreaking backstory, they feel terribly sorry for him, their maternal instincts kicking in. "Aaaah, how can anyone let such an adorable baby fail to find his mom? We have to get him into the debut lineup! Let that mom see what an incredible little treasure she missed!"

Then comes debut night.

Thousands of fans watch their cute, strong, tragic little darling clutch his trophy and scamper offstage, right into the arms of the talent show's biggest investor. He beams and says, "Mom! This is for you!"

The fans are completely bewildered: Our baby?

...You're calling this cold-faced CEO, who is male, six foot three, handsome, and rich... "Mom"?

And even more unbelievably,

the cold-faced CEO catches the little one and smiles with a look of "tender affection"...

Song Xinghe has never been favored by anyone. After being maliciously switched at birth, he returns to a wealthy family, only to find them doting on the fake young master.

Even when he risks his life to save someone, the credit is given to the fake young master as a way to curry favor.

The family doesn't want the fake young master to become a stepfather through their arranged marriage, so they send Song Xinghe instead.

His stepson tries to drive him away by hurting himself and framing him. His husband doesn't even let him explain before throwing down divorce papers.

He is divorced, then diagnosed with a terminal illness, but no one believes him. They cheer at his misfortune.

Even when he finally falls into the sea, they think he's just putting on an act.

-

It isn't until Song Xinghe is rescued by a mixed-race father and son that he spends two months with them at sea and finally understands.

It turns out that being loved has nothing to do with trying to please people.

He wants to live. The price is forgetting everything, but it is also a new beginning and a gift.

-

When everyone is no longer used to Song Xinghe's attempts to please them, even the stepson who framed and drove him away begins to feel bewildered.

At last, Song Xinghe reappears on the family variety show his stepson didn't want him to join.

He is holding a mixed-race child with curly hair and big eyes.

The child sweetly calls Song Xinghe "Dad" and scurries around on his short legs like a little adult, looking after him every step of the way.

The moment the variety show premieres, the sickly, beautiful dad and his doting, well-behaved baby capture viewers' hearts.

The stepson, who got his wish to appear on the show with the fake young master, sees this and rushes toward Song Xinghe without thinking, trying to push the child away.

But Song Xinghe, who used to do everything he said, stops him from coming closer and looks at him with unfamiliar eyes.

"Little one, you can't bully my precious baby. Where's your dad?"

The stepson freezes, then quickly steadies himself despite his unease.

Song Xinghe must be pretending not to know him to make him regret what he did. He won't fall for it!

When everyone learns that Song Xinghe has lost his memory, they react just like the stepson, desperately suppressing their unease as they rush to condemn him.

Until one day, their fears come true.

The truth is laid bare. Everyone is consumed with regret and tries to make amends, only to discover it's too late.

The identity of the gentle man by Song Xinghe's side is revealed: the legendary scourge of the seas, a man who would never pretend for Song Xinghe.

And he will never let them offend Song Xinghe again, not even by an inch.

Song Xinghe himself has already become someone they can only look up to.

The gifts they once carefully offered him but which he treated like trash are finally seen in all their brilliance after leaving them behind.
