A Guide to Serving as a Deity:
1. Work diligently. Don't slack off on the job, and do your best to increase the number of believers.
2. Deities are born from humanity's prayers and are inseparable from humans. Use your powers well to purge all filth and evil spirits from the world.
3. "Oddities" are, after all, evil spirits that have not fully fallen. Don't trust them too much.
This is a strange world, full of filth and rampant evil spirits. Only deities with the power to purify can put an end to these disasters.
Qi Yun is the bottom-ranked deity. No divine attendant is willing to choose him, and the place under his care is so desolate that not a single person can be seen.
Qi Yun feels… absolutely delighted! On his first day, he decisively tosses aside the thick enough-to-kill-someone A Guide to Serving as a Deity, thinking he can finally become a happy, lazy freeloader.
But a few days later, Qi Yun's dream cruelly shatters.
It's impossible to laze around. He can only scrape by by occasionally taking on commissions from other deities.
A lone wolf living in the wilderness, a deity swallowed by filth and turned into a monster, a seemingly peaceful city concealing danger…
Forced to work, Qi Yun is utterly miserable, but he does have something to show for it.
Qi Yun gains a divine attendant who is practically an SSR.
At their first meeting, the attendant points a knife at him, eyes full of murderous intent, and bluntly tells him to "get lost." At their second meeting, the attendant is covered in blood, yet still manages to muster the strength to mock him, saying "deities are all useless." At their third meeting… Even after they finally sign a contract, the attendant insists he'll leave after just three years, and refuses to be an unpaid worker.
But Qi Yun doesn't think any of this is a problem. He's convinced that his divine attendant is an excellent one.
And it turns out he's right. The attendant claims he won't work for free, but on his first day, he finishes all the work Qi Yun has let pile up. On the second day, he cleans the long-neglected temple until it sparkles. On the third day…
Watching his territory gradually become populated and its ranking climb higher and higher, Qi Yun is pleased, but also increasingly apprehensive. Why is his attendant's wolf tail wrapping tighter and tighter around him?!
Carefully testing the waters, Qi Yun, who suspects he's been mistaken for prey, says, "Look, your three years are up. Do you want to…"
Before he can finish, the attendant, hard at work, slaps down his pen and gives Qi Yun a sinister smile. Qi Yun hears him grit his teeth. "What? Now that you've used me, you want to kick me out? Don't even think about it!"
