Blurb:

Zhao Wenzheng transmigrated into the role of a vicious cannon-fodder character in a fantasy novel.

The original owner envied how the protagonist had earned his senior brother's attention. He maliciously crippled the protagonist's legs, blinded him, then forced him to marry him and tormented him day and night.

In the end, the original owner died a horrible death.

On their wedding night, Zhao Wenzheng looked at the protagonist in his miserable state, then thought about how much worse his own fate would be in a week. Gritting his teeth, he took the protagonist's cold hand.

"Now that we're married, I'll respect you and love you. I'll do everything I can to treat you well from now on."

"But I'm a cripple."

Zhao Wenzheng's heart sank. "I'll cure you."

*

A week later, when the senior brother came knocking, Zhao Wenzheng shut his eyes and waited to die. But the protagonist took his hand and said to the senior brother, "It wasn't him. You have the wrong person."

Having escaped death, Zhao Wenzheng looked at their clasped hands, feeling guilty and moved. He secretly vowed to treat the protagonist sincerely. Before long, though, he overheard the protagonist speaking privately with the senior brother:

Senior Brother: "Why did you change your mind at the last minute?"

The protagonist's gentle, timid expression from earlier vanished. With a cold smile, he said, "I just suddenly thought it would be more fun to torment him myself."

Realizing he'd been tricked, Zhao Wenzheng was both angry and heartbroken. He slapped the table and decided to go all the way: he knocked the protagonist unconscious and carried him off. From then on, the protagonist would belong to him alone!

The protagonist: "Wait, wasn't that supposed to be my role?"

As an utterly unremarkable prince, Lan Zheng had two shameful secrets.

One was that he wasn't the emperor's biological son.

The other was that he had fallen in love with the older brother who had raised him, the most honored Crown Prince in the realm.

Either secret could cost him his life. So, during a great upheaval in the imperial palace, Lan Zheng promptly disguised himself as a palace maid and made a run for it.

...But he didn't get away.

He was drugged on the way and, in a stroke of bad (good) luck, locked in a dark room with the Crown Prince, who had been immobilized with acupoint pressure.

*

The Crown Prince was gentle and beautiful, but his temperament was truly peculiar: he hated men and women alike. The cannon-fodder characters who had once tried to seduce him had all ended up as ashes.

Lan Zheng didn't want to end up as ashes.

But the secret drug had already taken effect. If he didn't get the antidote within half an hour, he would die.

Since death awaited him either way, he might as well die beneath a peony and become a romantic ghost!

He had put on makeup and bound his body, after all. The Crown Prince might not recognize him!

Lan Zheng encouraged himself. Ignoring the murderous look in the Crown Prince's eyes, he shut his own and recklessly kissed him.

And split the Crown Prince's lip.

*

That escape plan had failed.

Lan Zheng had no choice but to keep showing up at the Crown Prince's residence.

The entire Eastern Palace was on high alert. The Crown Prince's face was dark as a storm cloud, and the wound on his lower lip stood out conspicuously. He ordered his men to turn the place upside down and find the audacious palace maid.

The audacious Lan Zheng was terrified and decided to keep his secret buried forever.

...Then he got pregnant.

Pregnant! He had to keep that secret too... but how could he possibly hide it? QAQ

*

His pregnancy was eventually discovered.

Lan Zheng thought he was going to die.

But the Crown Prince looked at him and smiled gently. "Zhengzheng, you say the child is mine. Where's your proof?"

Lan Zheng: "...Huh?"

*

Later, the Crown Prince locked Lan Zheng in a room and made him reenact that night over and over again to prove his story was true.

Lan Zheng could only plead desperately, "Brother, brother, I think there's already more than enough proof..."
