Fairy-Tale Forest

Deep in the forests of the Ussuri region lived a nomadic people who hunted for a living and kept reindeer as their companions. Qiu Yu wandered into their territory and fell into a net the hunters had laid in advance. The tribespeople beat bamboo poles and surrounded her with torches. Only then did she realize that tonight was the day their finest hunter, Wucha, would become a man. And she was the woman the gods had bestowed upon him. That night, she was stripped of her clothes, ritually cleansed by the tribespeople, and sent into his room, where she saw a pair of eyes untouched by worldly desires. The tribespeople left him with these words: "The most honored man in Ussuri, enjoy the woman the gods have chosen for you." He stared coldly at the woman before him and tossed her a blanket. "Put this on." * Poachers had always been there, coveting the reindeers' antlers. After one devastating raid, Qiu Yu became everyone's enemy, and they demanded she leave Ussuri. He left her only a necklace made of reindeer bone, then disappeared without a word. She stood beyond Ussuri's tundra, gazing back for the last time. "Wucha, thank the gods for letting us love each other." Watching her retreating figure, he wept inconsolably in the mountains. * Later, Wucha missed her so much he couldn't bear it any longer. He ventured out of the mountains alone and entered her world. He searched for her carefully, then appeared before her. But she said, "You're filthy. Stay away from me." Theme: High school is about more than innocent young love. It's also about dreaming of becoming a great artist.
