Winds Across Ten Thousand Miles [Crime Investigation]

Gu Changfeng and Qi Cheng first met in a chilly interrogation room. Separated by a pane of glass, each thought the other was an idiot.

Gu Changfeng always thought that women like Qi Cheng might be beautiful, but they were exactly the sort he hated: affected, pretentious, and snobbish. Qi Cheng lived high above the clouds, praised by countless fans, so naturally she looked down on Officer Gu, who didn't even take her seriously.

But later, fate bound the two together and swept them forward.

A huge fire twelve years ago led to a notorious case in the Huhaishi public security system: an entire family was murdered. The sole survivor was Qi Cheng, who was only eleven at the time. She was also the only suspect.

Twelve years later, the little girl who had barely survived that fire had become a household-name superstar. The moment she stepped into the municipal public security bureau, the past and present came rushing together.

A pair of blood-red eyes in a crack in the wall, a shadow shifting behind a door, screams from inside a washing machine drum, a woman's anguished shrieks before her death, and the person in the fire twelve years ago, holding a knife to her throat and saying, “Darling, you can't escape.”

Qi Cheng thought about it and decided that wasn't necessarily true.
