Delayed Connection

The Black Iron Era, the third day after the Disaster.

A young Sentinel follows his instincts and captures his Guide.

For Li Fei, his physically impaired body with its half-beast features was already the biggest obstacle to surviving in the Lower City. He never imagined he would also awaken as a Guide.

An aberration in the eyes of ordinary people, the prime target of wild mutants, and prey to Sentinels.

It didn't sound like anything good.

But fate loves a joke, and on the very day Li Fei awakened, he was captured by a Sentinel.

A newly enrolled young Guide at the Tower asks Li Fei, “What did it feel like when you were captured?”

Li Fei thinks for a moment and replies, “Like someone had grabbed fate by the scruff of my neck.”

It was a surge so overwhelming he could hardly breathe, burning breaths, a racing heartbeat, and a prison that shackled and captured every thought.
