Blurb: After one thing after another goes wrong, Su Cheng quits her job in the big city and returns to her hometown, where she takes a laid-back nine-to-five job.
After her parents pass away, all they leave her is the key to an old house and an overgrown hill behind it that nobody takes care of.
Every day, she does odd jobs, pours tea, handles paperwork, and slacks off with her boss. When she gets home from work, the younger guy next door brings her snacks. In her free time, she can plant wild vegetables on the hill and look after the little animals.
Life is blissfully peaceful. It would be even better if her boss would keep his gray wolf tail tucked away, the handsome younger guy would stop arranging his peacock feathers like a centerpiece, and the nine-tailed fox shrine maiden would stop freeloading at her house.
Author’s note: I still want to write a fantasy story that doesn’t take much brainpower, about a fox woman who spends her days seducing a low-level civil servant while managing the local little demons. It’s a modern take on the classic romance between a fox spirit and a scholar.
Theme: The greatest kindness is having the courage to take responsibility instead of running away. Endure the winter, and spring will come.
