I Really Didn't Know You Liked Me That Much

Jin Heng was hailed as a piano prodigy from a young age. But as he grew older, the praise he heard most often changed to "technically brilliant, but lacking passion." Then, in the summer of his seventeenth year, he met Yuan Guanyi, another music student, for the first time in Xieyang Lane. Over the next year, he followed Yuan Guanyi into all sorts of wild adventures: street racing, listening to rock at live houses, getting blackout drunk, and, for the first time, kissing...

Yuan Guanyi was like a blazing sun, effortlessly igniting fireworks in his life, only to quietly disappear from it.

Unwilling to give up, Jin Heng followed him to the country's top music conservatory, only for Yuan Guanyi to joke, "You've got the wrong idea. We're just friends."

Years later, Jin Heng returns, successful and famous, and runs into Yuan Guanyi again. Yuan has achieved nothing, but now pursues him passionately. Jin Heng, his heart as still as water, coolly replies, "You've got the wrong idea. We're just classmates."

But as soon as he says it, he accidentally discovers the real reason Yuan Guanyi rejected him all those years ago.

A rational beauty, the pursued, VS a sunny, devoted pursuer who leaves a trail of broken hearts (not really)
