A Mistaken Marriage

Lin Qin has an engagement to the kind that makes anyone with common sense say, "Don't do it. You'll just end up divorced."

When Lin Qin returned to the country, the son of the flirtatious Shen family still wasn't married.

When they met, before Lin Qin could explain that she had no intention of marrying above her station, he tossed her a bank card.

He tugged impatiently at his tie. "My family needs us to put on a show. Cooperate and get the marriage certificate. Later, we'll find the right time to divorce. This is compensation for using up your first-marriage status."

Fine. It was a fake marriage anyway. She could think of it as repaying the debt she owed the Shen family from years ago.

But Mr. Shen, who had drawn up a whole list of rules about keeping out of each other's business before the wedding, started acting strangely not long after they married.

On the first night, he knocked on her door. "Little Wang the driver's niece suddenly has a fever. Could you diagnose her remotely?"

On the second night, he said, "Old Chen's wife has diarrhea."

On the third night, he said, "Old Ding's aunt's cousin has stomach pains."

After a while, he started staying over.

A woman can enjoy sex without getting attached, too. Who says I can't play that game?

Besides, he passed the looks and physique test. I wasn't losing out.
