Rich heiress x poor boy | Male lead fostered by her family | From school to the city | A couple always at odds
The summer after the college entrance exams, Shi Lin worked part-time at a cram school for two months and earned his first paycheck.
He could just about afford a graduation trip with Song Zhaoxi.
If only she hadn't insisted on throwing her heiress attitude around, Shi Lin was sure it would have been a pretty good trip.
On the streets of Hong Kong, the two got lost while looking for a bus stop and started arguing. Song Zhaoxi stood by the roadside, refusing to move. “I can't walk anymore, Shi Lin. Carry me!”
Shi Lin gave her a look that said he wasn't about to indulge her, then kept following the map. His words were just as unsparing: “If you can't walk, take a taxi. If you don't want to go, you can turn around and head back to the hotel. Nobody's forcing you.”
“I can't walk anymore. I can't take another step. Do what you want.” She simply sat down by the road, sweat beading across her forehead in the blazing sun, her face a picture of pure displeasure.
Shi Lin rolled his eyes. “Then sit here until you've got your strength back.”
Song Zhaoxi was furious. “Shi Lin, my room key and power bank are in your bag. You can't leave me here!”
Shi Lin turned around, tossed his backpack to her without expression, and walked off on his own.

During her years abroad, Song Zhaoxi gradually fell in love with the rainy days in Edinburgh, and her personality grew much quieter.
She returned home to deal with an inheritance dispute.
After her father died suddenly in an accident, he entrusted the company to Shi Lin to manage on his deathbed. The true heir was a boy not yet three years old: her half-brother, whom she had never met.
At the memorial service, a male classmate who had once loved Song Zhaoxi without winning her heart came to pay his respects. In front of her, he said one thing; behind her back, he complained to Shi Lin: “I heard nobody helped her after her dad got into trouble. Even her grandfather is siding with outsiders. Looks like she won't be able to keep up that rich heiress act for much longer.”
Shi Lin gave a cold laugh. “Even if she drops the act, she's still a rich heiress.”
The man was confused. “I thought you two never got along. Now you're on opposite sides at the Song Group, so why are you speaking up for her?”
Shi Lin calmly raised his champagne glass and offered a polite toast, but his eyes were full of warning. “Say one more word, and your family can forget about getting any orders this year.”
“If she wanted to, the whole world should revolve around her, let alone some little Song Group.” He suddenly smiled, then turned his glass upside down over the man's head and said contemptuously, “Someone like you isn't even worthy of putting on her shoes.”
