A Handsome Man Straight Out of a Comic Just Moved in Downstairs

After Su Ying's ninth complaint to the landlord, the couple downstairs finally moved out.

At long last, she could enjoy some peace and quiet.

But after just a few peaceful days, a new neighbor moved in downstairs.

A skateboard, black leather shoes, a basketball. After keeping an eye on him for a few days, Su Ying noticed that all the clothes drying on his balcony were men's clothes.

Hangzhou's dual-key apartments were notorious for their lack of privacy. Su Ying's heart skipped a beat as her paranoia kicked in.

Her new neighbor's work hours seemed much like hers: he left around noon and came back late, only making a sound after midnight. Su Ying guessed he worked in e-commerce too.

Fortunately, this neighbor had good manners. He barely made a sound at home, except for the music he insisted on playing out loud while showering.

Until one night, someone knocked on Su Ying's door in the middle of the night.

It was 1:05 a.m. She lived alone, and a quiet fear crept over her.

She didn't open the door that night. For the next three nights in a row, he came and knocked at exactly the same time.

Was he testing her? Su Ying clutched her blanket and messaged her best friend: [I think the new neighbor downstairs is up to no good.]

[What makes you think that?]

[He keeps knocking on my door in the middle of the night!]

Su Ying's heart was made of stone, and eventually the late-night knocking stopped.

On the weekend, she finally got a rare, peaceful night's sleep, only to be jolted awake by knocking once again.

At her wit's end, Su Ying rubbed her head and went to open the door, her voice sharp with irritation.
